The Grayson County Amateur Radio Club sponsors a local group of volunteer examiners (VEs) who administer the FCC exams for amateur radio licenses.
These exams are held at 7pm on the first Thursday of even numbered months. The fee for testing is $15.00 (cash). If time permits, and you pass your initial test, you are permitted to take the next test in the series for no additional fee.
There are three exams, corresponding to the three different FCC amateur radio licenses in the United States:
Technician Class License: Element 2 Exam, 35 questions from a pool of approximately 425 questions.
General Class License : Element 3 Exam, 35 questions from a pool of approximately 450 questions.
Amateur Extra Class License: Element 4 Exam, 50 questions from a pool of approximately 700 questions.
