Hi everyone,
I’m starting a new article for our newsletter called station of the month. In every issue I’m hoping to write an article and take photos featuring the station (mobile or home) of one of our club members. This can only be successful with volunteers willing to take about an hour of their time to open up their workspace and talk about their experiences in this hobby. Please let me know if you are willing!
As a new ham, my station is still a complete Work In Progress (WIP). I started with a single Baofeng UV-5R and a couple of short antennas. With this setup, I struggled to consistently hit the local 147.000 repeater for our club nets, so I recently purchased a magnet-mount antenna which I have affixed to a nickel-plated serving tray in my window. In addition to this, my station includes a spare chargeable battery and a backup AA battery powered pack, as well as an additional UV-5R+ that I’m trying to program to scan the emergency radio frequencies.
While I am still new to the club, my ultimate goal is to learn everything I can about ham radio and eventually operate on both the local and HF bands. I also dream of making contact with the International Space Station and of finding Lee’s (N5SLY) ever elusive fox.
Here my station…

Great article Angel. Nice addition to the web site. I would be willing to share my home shack set up.
